The Singapore Medical Group (SMG) intends to set up a world-class multi-disciplinary Hospital in
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. This flagship Hospital will be a Centre of
Excellence, offering quality specialist healthcare services in disciplines
such as Oncology, Diagnostics & Imaging, Gastroenterology, Hepatology,
Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Orthopaedic services, Nephrology and
Ophthalmology. The 30 to 50 bed Hospital will be equipped with advanced
technology used by SMG's Centres in Singapore, and will be run by
Singapore-trained Mongolian doctors and staff, as well as Singaporean
doctors. The Hospital will have operating theatres, intensive care units,
high dependency units, a private pathology lab, a trauma centre as well as a
helipad for medical evacuation purposes.
The Hospital will be internationally accredited, and will focus on providing
the best medical outcomes with the most hospitable service.
The target date for commencement of Hospital development is the second quarter of 2011.
After the successful establishment and ongoing operations of the flagship
Hospital, satellite family medicine clinics and mini-hospitals will be set
up around the city and the country to provide accessible healthcare to the
broader Mongolian population. SMG envisions about fifteen family medicine
clinics and mini-hospitals country-wide with some located in key secondary
cities and mining towns.
The purpose of the clinics is to promote preventive health and wellness
among the public, which will include procedures like vaccination against
cervical cancer and hepatitis B, health screening, and medical forums to
increase health awareness. These clinics will span across the wide expanse
of Mongolia, thus allowing more Mongolians to have access to quality primary
care services. These clinics will also serve as referral sites for the
hospital.
